Whats new in Tanda – October 2018
We’ve been busy this month working on a range of new features for managers and employees. Here are the 4 new features we released in October:
Live Insights – Control your wage costs and make data-driven staffing decisions
It doesn’t matter how well you plan out your rosters, there are always going to be things that happen on the day that can throw your entire plan off. Maybe it’s a rainy day or a big last minute booking?
Making adjustments to your staffing just got a whole lot easier with our new Live Insights widget. You can now track your award-interpreted wage costs in real-time and see how they compare to your sales. Make confident data-driven staffing decisions like when you should call staff in or when to send staff home.
Live Insights gives you the information you need to run the most successful shift possible regardless of any challenges that may come up.
If you would like to switch your Live Wage Tracker over to Live Insights please read through the instructions on setting up Live Insights on our help site. Right now we are integrated with a number of POS systems but if you don’t see yours listed please reach out to email@example.com
Add custom forms and questions to your new hire onboarding
Hiring new staff traditionally comes with mountains of paperwork. No one likes paperwork, not the staff who have to fill it out and definitely not the managers who have to enter that data into other systems. The great news is this month we released two new features to our employee onboarding: custom forms and custom questions which allow you to eliminate even more paperwork from your new hire process.
You can now add training docs or policies that you need staff to read and accept before starting work as well as getting them to fill out questions. Getting staff to complete this information in an intuitive mobile app means by the time they get to work on their first day they are ready to hit the ground running and start actual work.
To add custom forms and questions simply click on the ‘Customise Onboarding’ button from the bottom of the New staff popover.
Staff > New > Employee Onboarding > Configure Onboarding
Once added, these forms and questions will be included under the Organisational Forms section in the onboarding app.
You can now see roster validation warnings when approving shift swaps
When approving shift swaps you will see the same context as our rostering screen to assist you in making decisions. Roster validation now flows into Shift Swapping, showing you, for example, when a swap will take an employee past their maximum hours for the week. This is to provide managers with context so that approved shift swaps are compliant and do not surprise managers with higher pay rates due to a shift hitting overtime.
Validations that will be flagged on shift swaps when:
- The shift is before employee’s earliest start
- The shift is after employee’s latest finish
- The shift takes an employee over their maximum hours for the roster
- The employee will work more than their maximum shifts for the roster
- The employee will work more than their maximum shifts for the day
- The shift is too long
- The shift is too short
For more information on how shift swapping in Tanda works please read our post on shift swapping. If you don’t have the app yet you can download it here, simply log in with your normal Tanda login details.
Employees can see their team’s roster in the app
Employees can see who they’re working with so that they can communicate with their teammates and better prepare for shifts. This allows you to be more transparent with your staff, and results in an improved employee experience.
If you would not like your employees to view their team’s rosters, you can disable this feature in your Organisation settings.
Staff contracts in Tanda
We are constantly looking for ways to increase efficiencies for new hires while ensuring businesses stay compliant. We are currently looking into adding staff contracts and docs feature that would allow you to upload files and store them on employee profiles.
Is this a feature you and your business would use?
If so I’d love to hear from you, please shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
