Our aim is to provide you with a simple and intuitive way to organise your business to support rostering, reporting and payroll. After speaking with a range of customers about how they use Tanda to organise their business we’ve identified some key improvements to best support you: Better organisation and distinction between roster locations and departments Simplification of the way you categorise staff Intuitive rostering based on your business size What are we building? Location groupings The most fundamental change to the system involves the addition of a location level of grouping above departments (renamed to teams). This will give you a much simpler way to separate your roster locations, rather than setting up a department for each one. Departments refresh Departments are packed with useful functionality that you love, reporting, manager permissions etc. But one thing we noticed departments are neglected for is rostering. To make them more useful on your roster we are giving them colour coding and a level of extra information called shift details for when you need it. As a part of the departments functionality refresh we are also renaming them to Teams, we think this name is more reflective of the way our customers use the feature. How will these changes impact my setup? The changes we are introducing are not removing any of the functionality that is currently available in Tanda. My business works out of one location You will no longer need to worry about having both roles and departments. The difference here is that you can now use teams (departments to be renamed) as your primary roster tagging method. Your set up, rostering and reporting will all be simpler and easier. If you need more detail on your roster for things like higher duties, you will still be able to do this using shift details.   My business has multiple locations The addition of locations will mean you can group teams (departments to be renamed) based on their actual store / location. This feature will greatly enhance and organise your business set up and provide you with the flexibility to expand your business and easily manage this growth. Instead of having to select both the department and the role managers at each site will just be able to select the team manager (departments to be renamed). For people who need to view or roster people across locations, each team (departments to be renamed) will show a short code that shows the location the department is in. Different locations / stores will now be able to have different options on their roster without affecting (and confusing) managers at every other site. In rare cases when it is necessary you will still be able to add a shift detail into the team within a location.   When are these changes coming? In the coming months we will start building these changes and testing them with our customers. Keep your eye out for opportunities to provide feedback and ask questions. When we begin rolling out the changes we will guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have.

  1. Better organisation and distinction between roster locations and departments
  2. Simplification of the way you categorise staff
  3. Intuitive rostering based on your business size

What are we building?

Location groupings

The most fundamental change to the system involves the addition of a location level of grouping above departments (renamed to teams).

This will give you a much simpler way to separate your roster locations, rather than setting up a department for each one.

Departments refresh

Departments are packed with useful functionality that you love, reporting, manager permissions etc.

My business works out of one location

  • You will no longer need to worry about having both roles and departments.
  • The difference here is that you can now use teams (departments to be renamed) as your primary roster tagging method. Your set up, rostering and reporting will all be simpler and easier.
  • If you need more detail on your roster for things like higher duties, you will still be able to do this using shift details.

My business has multiple locations

  • The addition of locations will mean you can group teams (departments to be renamed) based on their actual store / location. This feature will greatly enhance and organise your business set up and provide you with the flexibility to expand your business and easily manage this growth.
  • Instead of having to select both the department and the role managers at each site will just be able to select the team manager (departments to be renamed). For people who need to view or roster people across locations, each team (departments to be renamed) will show a short code that shows the location the department is in.
  • Different locations / stores will now be able to have different options on their roster without affecting (and confusing) managers at every other site.

Text Me Maybe: Share Your Rosters by SMS!

Tanda’s (PayAus) roster management tools just got even more powerful, with the ability to send your staff their rosters by SMS, instantly. No more printing rosters out and making sure they don’t get lost, or trampled on, or wet. No more casuals calling up during the busiest time of the day to ask when their next shift is. And no more typing text messages up yourself – Tanda can do it all for you. Once you’ve designed a roster in Tanda, just follow the prompts to SMS it to your staff. You’ll be able to select which staff members get their rosters delivered, and even see a preview of the message they’ll get. Rosters by SMS cost 25 cents per message, but as a gift to Tanda customers, we’re making the first month absolutely free. Have fun! P.S. rosters are sent to the phone number you’ve provided for your staff, so you’ll need to make sure that’s correct. If you are having issues entering phone numbers, or need help importing a lot of phone numbers, please contact us!

New From Tanda: Daily Roll Calls

It’s 10:15 in the morning. Your weekly all hands meeting starts at 10:30, and you need a list of people who won’t be there. What do you do? If you don’t use Tanda (PayAus), maybe you’re lucky and have another system in place where staff clock in when they get to work. Chances are, it’s signing their name into a book. So, you file through the book, matching names in it against a list of people who should be at work. If you’re unlucky, you go to everyone’s desk, office, or workstation and check if they’re there. Then you come back in five minutes to account for those who were away from their desk last time. If you’ve got multiple offices, this is the point at which you probably give up. If you use Tanda, you check your email. Sitting in it is a list of staff who’ve clocked in so far today. And because you’ve been using Tanda for your rostering, the list highlights who was rostered to arrive – but didn’t – and who turned up late. Our brand new roll call feature is live! Say goodbye to headcounts and headaches, and hello to an automated list of who’s at work, direct to your inbox. Roll calls are fully configurable; send them once, twice, even five times, in as often as 10 minute increments. Send them to as many email addresses as you like. Don’t want to come to work on Sunday just to check who else did? Configure your roll call to only send on weekends. Don’t need the roll call anymore? Disable it in one click. You can even get an end-of-day roll call that tells you who hasn’t clocked out – great for checking that staff are remembering to use Tanda, and that they aren’t working ridiculous overtime. You can start using roll calls right now – they’re accessible via the Notifications tab at the top of the page.
